Find your person, on your own terms.
Find the right people. In select markets, Match now allows you to search for your person by typing specifically what you’re looking for.
How it works. You can type what you’re looking for instead of being limited to a specific set of filters, and we will recommend profiles that we think match the criteria you’ve provided us. We use AI to analyze your search requests, and attempt to match that search request with information in other users’ profiles, including information added to dedicated profile fields, bios, and prompt responses. Where users have explicitly provided such information in dedicated profile fields or prompt responses, this may include information that is considered sensitive under applicable laws, such as information about religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. We use such information only for the purpose of matching profiles to your search.
Like any technology, AI can get it wrong sometimes, but the more specific you are about what you want, the better it gets. Results reflect your search, but may include suggested or related profiles rather than exact matches. To help maintain a respectful and safe environment, our search feature doesn’t support returning results for certain things that may violate our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines or that may otherwise be considered inappropriate or offensive. This includes things like:
Illegal Content: For example, keywords related to commercial sex, drug distribution, or human trafficking
Harmful Content: For example, keywords related to hate speech, violence, or sexually explicit acts or material
Safety Issues: For example, keywords related to the exploitation of minors, self-harm, or attempts to identify or find an individual user by searching for their personally identifiable information, such as their name or social media handle
If a search isn’t supported, you will see a notice that the search isn’t allowed.
Search beyond Match. If you have our Expanded Discoverability feature enabled, your searches may return results beyond just Match users and also include profiles of users across other Match Group services to help maximize your chance of finding your person. When Expanded Discoverability is enabled, your profile may also appear in discovery and search experiences across these other Match Group Services.
What if I only want to see Match members? You have two options. You can either opt out of the Expanded Discoverability feature by turning it off in your account (keep in mind that this means your Match profile will only be visible on Match and not on any other Match Group services) or you can change your search settings from the main Search page to show results that only include Match members.
Where is it available? At this time, our new Search feature is only available in the U.S., but it may become available in additional markets in the future.
